GT le mans (GTLM) has six entries including jordan taylor, jesse krohn, tommy milner and timo glock.

The GT daytona (GTD) class is the largest in terms of entries with 19. Notable drivers include zach veach, townsend bell, JR hildebrand, andy lally, ed jones (who this week was tagged to race full time in the indycar series with dale coyne racing and vasser sullivan racing), ryan briscoe and katherine legge.

The original entry list was slated to be 50 cars, which would have been the most since 2018. Unfortunately, black swan racing was forced to pull out of the GTD class when car owner and driver tim pappas tested positive for novel coronavirus (COVID-19) following the 24 hours of dubai.

Other alterations to the entry list related to the COVID-19 virus include a driver change in the no. 51 RWR-eurasia team as sven mueller has been pressed into service as a replacement for mathieu jaminet. This team also features NASCAR drivers dillon and cody ware.

2021 world endurance championship entry list revealed

The FIA has published the full, 33-car entry list for the 2021 season of the FIA world endurance championship.

2021 will be a season dominated by the massive change at the front of the grid, with the consequences of that trickling down to the rest of the field. It’s the first season of the new le mans hypercar era, which will see the record-setting prototypes vanish — for the most part — and replaced with new, far less expensive vehicles.

The new hypercar class will see three entries, and they’re a bit of a mixed bag, thanks to the spread of new regulations. Toyota is the only team that retains its top-category entry from the 2019-20 season, with the new GR010 LMH replacing the triple champion TS050 LMP1-H. Not only that, the team will retain the entire driver line-up from last season’s series victory.

Lining up alongside is a car that we’ve actually seen before, but running under a new name. The signatech alpine team will campaign in a single alpine A480, which is actually a rebadged rebellion R13 LMP1. This car actually won two rounds of WEC last season and finished runner-up at le mans, but in order to fit with the hypercar regulations it faces stiff power and weight penalties compared to 2019-20; its 2’15.8 hyperpole time last year would be 14 seconds faster than projected lap times for the category!

The final full season entry is totally new. Scuderia cameron glickenhaus will field two of its SCG007 cars which, like the toyota, is built to the new LMH regulations. Unlike the toyota though, it won’t be a hybrid, meaning all 670hp comes from a petrol engine. SCG has confirmed one driver for each car, with platinum driver ryan briscoe in the #709 and gold driver gustavo menezes joining from rebellion in the #708.

While fans were also expecting the bykolles team to join with its new LMH machine, the team is absent from the entry list right now. Quite what this means for the car and team is unclear, but thus far we have only seen renders of the “PMC project LMH” car while the others vehicles have all seen track testing action.

As the hypercars would be dramatically slower in 2021, the FIA has also slowed the LMP2 cars down. As well as mandating a spec tire from goodyear, power of the spec gibson V8 has fallen from 600hp to 560hp, which should see the lmp2s around ten seconds a lap slower at le mans.

The LMP2 champion team from last season, the #22 united autosports team, will also return this year, with championship-winning drivers filipe albuquerque and philip hanson driving again, joined by DTM driver fabio scherer. An 11-strong LMP2 grid also includes seats for former F1 drivers anthony davidson, jan magnussen, juan pablo montoya, giedo van der garde, and stoffel vandoorne. There’s an all-female line-up of tatiana calderon, sophia floersch, and beitske visser in the #1 richard mille car.

GT cars make up 17 of the 33-car field, but the champion aston martin team won’t return for GTE pro. In fact the category will only be a two-team, four-car grid, with AF corse running two ferrari 488s and porsche GT team running two porsche 911 rsrs. The category-winning GTE am AF corsa ferrari 488 returns with its winning driver line-up of emmanuel collard, nicklas nielsen, and francois perrodo.

Of course this entry list represents the full season only, with an additional 23 cars due to take part in june’s 24 hours of le mans. Further driver announcements are set to arrive in due course too, and you can see the official list here.

Those entering germany from risk areas must complete a digital entry registration form, be tested for coronavirus and, depending on the regulations of the land in question, self-isolate.

Measures to tackle COVID-19

According to a decision taken by the federal and länder governments, from 2 november to at least 14 february, hotels and other accommodation providers may only offer overnight accommodation to people whose travel is essential. It is no longer permitted to provide overnight accommodation for tourism purposes. Visas for tourism purposes will thus only be issued in exceptional cases.
The länder are responsible for implementing this decision. Whether a specific journey is possible thus depends on the rules of the land to which you wish to travel. More information for potential travellers can be found here.

Entry restrictions

Restrictions on travel from countries with coronavirus variants

A travel ban has been imposed on countries with widespread occurrence of SARS-cov-2 virus variants of concern (referred to as “areas of variant of concern”). Transport companies, e.G. Air carriers and railway companies, may not transport any persons from these countries to germany. There are only a few, strictly defined exceptions to this travel ban, namely for:

Persons who are resident in germany with a current right to reside in the country

Persons on connecting flights, who do not leave the transit zone of an international airport

Travellers aged six years or older who have been in a high incidence area or in a virus variant area in the past ten days prior to entry into germany must carry proof that they have been tested for infection with SARS-cov-2 coronavirus with them upon entry and present it to the competent authorities upon request and, if necessary, to the transport company prior to travelling.

Travellers who have visited any other risk area (neither high incidence area nor virus variant area) during the ten days prior to entry into germany must be in possession of a test result no later than 48 hours after entry and present it to the competent authorities upon request.

The test must have been performed no more than 48 hours prior to entry (time of swabbing). Proof of the test result must be on paper or in an electronic document in english, french or german. No exceptions can be made for entry from virus variant areas. Those in transit from high-incidence areas and other risk areas are exempt from registration, testing and quarantine requirements under certain circumstances. This includes transit through a risk area without a stopover prior to entering germany as well as transit through germany via the fastest route, e.G. With a confirmed onward flight to a third country.

Regardless of the test result, there is a quarantine obligation in accordance with the regulations of the respective land.

Mouth and nose must be covered aboard any public transport, in stores and busy outdoor places, where the minimum distance to others cannot be kept at all times. Masks must fulfill the requirements of FFP2, KN95/N95 or surgical masks.

The provisional entry list and calendar for the 2021 idemitsu asia talent cup can now be revealed. 20 full-time riders are set to race in the six-round, 12-race 2021 cup, with four competitors chosen as reserves. The 24 riders hail from seven countries across asia and oceania: australia, india, indonesia, japan, malaysia, thailand and turkey.

As the covid-19 pandemic obliged the cancellation of the 2020 cup following the opening round in qatar, including the 2021 selection event, every rider who was set to compete in the cup this season automatically had a spot available on the 2021 grid.

The majority of the 2021 entry list therefore comprises familiar faces, with any remaining places filled by riders from national championships or racing schools across asia and oceania, chosen by the ATC selection committee.

From there the cup is back with the grand prix paddock at the twin ring motegi, buriram and sepang, before rounding out the season alongside worldsbk at mandalika street circuit in indonesia.

[updated november 20] the covid-19 coronavirus has changed our lives – now we are accustomed to wearing face masks, social distancing and staying home, at least for the time being. International travel to and from japan is still restricted, although japan is working on a travel bubble with selected countries and regions and has lifted the entry ban for foreign residents. With polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing centres now available in central tokyo and osaka, as well as at narita airport, there is some hope that we’ll be seeing you in japan soon. Reports indicate that japan could open to all international tourists as early as spring next year.

In november, japan added two countries (jordan and myanmar) to its no-entry list while removing 11 locations (australia, brunei, china, hong kong, macau, new zealand, republic of korea, singapore, taiwan, thailand and vietnam), bringing the total number of banned regions to 152. Under the current restrictions, anyone who is not a japanese citizen and has been to these countries or regions in the past 14 days will be denied entry into japan.
